Life Of Pi – Review

Based on the best-selling book by Yann Martel, the five-star hit show Life Of Pi comes to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

Based on the global phenomenon and winner of the Man Booker Prize, selling over fifteen million copies worldwide, LIFE OF PI is the hugely popular story of an epic journey of endurance and hope. Don’t miss the West End and Broadway spectacle on its first-ever UK tour.

After an epic storm in the Pacific Ocean, Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger.

Divesh Subaskaran as Pi was astounding. It’s hard to believe this show marks his professional debut. He truly embodies the role of 17 year old Pi. He is funny without being mean, charming and generous. His ability to captivate the audience and draw them in is remarkable.

The visuals and staging on this production is incredible. The sceneography is beautiful. The opulence and vibrancy of India is showcased through the hustle and bustle of the markets. Puppet designers Nick Barnes and Finn Caldwell have sown a brilliant job creating such intricate, lifelike puppets.

Boasting numerous accolades including winner of five Olivier Awards, including Best New Play! After conquering the West End and Broadway, the five-star ‘theatrical phenomenon’ (Telegraph) embarks on its biggest adventure yet.

Life Of Pi continues at The Wolverhampton Grand Theatre until Saturday 27th April 2024. Tickets are available at the following link https://www.grandtheatre.co.uk/whats-on/life-of-pi/
