LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO are on their uk tour. They are currently performing at Wolverhampton grand theatre.

For 50 years, the all-male comedy ballet company affectionately known as “The Trocks” has been delighting audiences of all ages at sell-out performances featuring their fabulous sense of fun and their flawless dancing.

Originally from New York, the Trocks are loved world-wide for their sassy spoofs and hilarious homages to classical ballet, where the dancers each transform into two personas, both ballerina and danseur!

Every performance frivolously frollics with tutus and testosterone, blush-pink ballet pumps, fierce false eyelashes and prima ballerina attitude. However, what makes this company extraordinarily special is their immaculate technique and daring physicality, surpassed only by their impeccable comic timing.

The production is brilliant from start to finish. There’s a particular genius in pairing high‑level ballet technique with comedy, and having male dancers perform en pointe adds another layer of skill — one they execute superbly.

Even the dancers’ stage names playfully poke fun at ballet tradition. In the post‑show Q&A, the associate artistic director explained that historically dancers often changed their names to ones deemed more suitable, so the company decided to lean into that tradition with humour.

This production makes ballet feel more accessible and inclusive, offering newcomers a modern, joyful entry point while giving dancers and ballet lovers the chance to revel in the silliness, satire and sheer delight of it all — especially those moments when individual dancers get their comedic “breakout” spotlight.
