Richard O’Brien’s legendary The Rocky Horror Show has returned to Birmingham as part of its new world tour, and once again, it proves why it remains one of the most beloved cult musicals of all time.
Directed by Christopher Luscombe, this production is packed with energy, outrageous fun, and that signature mix of rock ‘n’ roll and risqué humor that keeps audiences coming back for more.
For those unfamiliar (though, let’s be honest, who isn’t?), The Rocky Horror Show follows the misadventures of straight-laced sweethearts Brad and Janet, whose car trouble leads them to the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. What unfolds is a wild night of seduction, science fiction, and some of musical theatre’s most iconic numbers, including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, and the crowd-favorite Time Warp.
This latest run features Motherland star Jackie Clune as the Narrator, whose sharp wit and quick improvisation kept the audience engaged and laughing throughout, I absolutely loved her responses to the audience, they were so original. But, of course, it’s the sheer spectacle of the show—the outrageous costumes, electrifying performances, and the uninhibited audience participation—that truly makes Rocky Horror an experience like no other.
Having seen the show multiple times, I can confidently say it never gets old. It’s sexy, it’s hilarious, and it’s pure escapism at its best. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a Rocky Horror virgin, this production is an unmissable theatrical party that will leave you buzzing long after the curtain falls.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your fishnets and get ready to do the Time Warp again! The Rocky Horror Show runs at The Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham, until Saturday, 22nd March 2025. Tickets are available here.
