BMOS presents Peter Pan A Musical Adventure

 

Founded in 1886, BMOS Musical Theatre Company is one of the leading amateur companies in the Midlands. In recent years their regular venue has been The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham where they perform twice a year, they are currently the only amateur company to perform at this venue. In this festive adventure, Peter Pan and the Darling family are whisked away to the infamous Neverland full of colourful characters including the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and, of course, the dastardly Captain Hook.

 

With a spectacular mix of swashbuckling adventure, jaw-dropping flying, and an infectious score, Peter Pan is guaranteed to bring forth one's inner child, and send you reeling "Just Beyond the Stars."

 

Peter Pan is a story that resonates with many. Neverland is a world that allows people to let their imaginations go wild. For children, it is a magical adventure full of excitement and danger. For adults, it evokes memories of childhood innocence and the promise that we all still have that sense of childlike wonder within us. This production lets the audience be encapsulated by all that magic.

 

This musical rendition is fantastic, the singing and dancing adds another level to escaping reality. It enhances drama as it allows the emotion of the moment to be communicated in a very accessible way. A catchy show tune is also something that audiences can take away with them. The musical numbers were brilliant, particularly from the leads with Martin Foley as Peter Pan, Annabel Pilcher as Wendy, and Alistair Jolliffe as Captain Hook.  Dave Shaw as Smee was numerous and had the audience in fits of laughter. My only criticism of this production was that some of the transitions between scenes weren’t always smooth.
