High society is a musical that follows the memorising socialite Tracy Lord as she prepares for her illustriously high profile second wedding on her Long Island Estate. Her detailed and well planned nuptials descend into chaos with the unexpected arrival of her charming ex husband and two tabloid reporters hoping for a juicy scandal.

Helen George (Call the Midwife, The Kingand I) leads a 28-strong cast as glamorous socialite Tracy Lord, joined by stage and screen favourites Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Nigel Lindsay (Kiss Me, Kate),Julian Ovenden (South Pacific), and Malcolm Sinclair (Pie in the Sky). As plans for the society wedding of the year descend into chaos, old and new flames vie for attention while a sharp-eyed tabloid reporter hunts for a scandal at a waterfront estate. I must also mention an old alumnus of my dance school Jabari Braham as one of the ensemble. He is a joy to watch.

This lavish new production features a score overflowing with the best of Cole Porter’s songbook, including Just One Of Those Things, Let’s Misbehave, I Love Paris, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Well, Did You Evah!, True Love, and many more.

Set in the 1930’s this musical encapsulates the wealthy of the class lifestyle of Long Island New York amidst the late Great depression era. It’s cemented as part of the Golden Age of musicals.

Brought to life by a multi award-winning creative team, including director Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographer Anthony Van Laast, High Society declares the summer season officially open! The scenes are rich with detail and extremely lavish.

High society had been hailed as five-star “pure theatrical escapism” by the Times and “studded with diamond performances from a top-notch cast” (Financial Times), High Society is the most swell party of the year, direct from the sell-out season in London’s West End!

High Society continues at the Alexandra Theatre Birmingham until Saturday 22nd August 2026. Tickets are available at the following link https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/high-society/the-alexandra-theatre-birmingham/
