Stranger Sings

We’re in the upside-down for the award-winning, smash-hit new parody musical; STRANGER SINGS!

Straight from its nine-month run in New York to a UK premiere 3-month sell-out run in London, comes the UK nationwide Theatre Tour of STRANGER SINGS! This award-winning sci-fi spoof is a wild, irreverent twist on the hit Netflix series.

The incredibly original writing of Jonathan Hogue subverts the genre with this fearless parody musical, where there are way too many mullets, a generous helping of fairy lights, and the ’80s finally embracing feminism.

Based on the hit TV show Stranger Things, which first aired in 2016. The show is set in the fictional town called Hawkins in Indiana, USA in the 80s. This town experiences strange things as it's connected to a parallel world called the ‘Upside Down’.

Directed by Ellis Kerkhoven, the show is fast-paced, and bursting with jokes, all of which are hilariously timed. The set design from Justin Williams is incredible and effortlessly portrays notable scenes from the series that fans will notice. Musical director, Olivia Zacharia leads the talented cast of 10, who are absolute stars.

The cast of 10 are multitalented as they play about 20 or so characters across the 125 minutes. Anna Amelia looks scarily like Millie Bobby Brown but offers her incredible vocals to the roles of Eleven, Nancy and Robin. Philippa Leadbetter, makes her professional debut, delivering a sensational showstopping performance playing Barb.

Stranger Sings features an impressive selection of original music, including classic 80s-inspired songs, upbeat pop tunes and even big 11 o’clock numbers. The score is exciting, and catchy with some of the wittiest lyrics.

So, take a trip with your favourite gang on a night of indulgent pop culture references, heavy synth, poor parenting, dancing demogorgons and maybe – just maybe – you might find justice for Barb along the way.

Hop(per) on your bike and grab your transmitter radio (and don’t forget your inhaler whatever you do); because saving your friends is the answer to this never-ending story.

Stranger Sings is on at The Wolverhampton Grand Theatre until Wednesday 17th January. Tickets are available at the following link https://www.grandtheatre.co.uk/whats-on/stranger-sings/.
