Returning once again to the stage, The Bodyguard delivers a thrilling mix of romance, danger, and powerhouse vocals. Starring international leading lady Sidonie Smith as Rachel Marron, alongside Olivier Award nominee Adam Garcia as Frank Farmer, the production is as slick and heartfelt as ever. At selected performances, the role of Rachel Marron is played by the outstanding Mireia Mambo, with Sasha Monique as Nicki Marron and Matt Milburn adding charisma as Sy Spector.
Based on the 1992 film, the story follows Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from a menacing stalker. What begins as a professional relationship soon deepens to more, set against a soundtrack of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits.

What makes this production shine is its clever craftsmanship. Each song is woven seamlessly into the story, never feeling forced, but carrying real meaning and emotional weight. From Run to You and I Have Nothing to the iconic I Will Always Love You, the music soars and the drama resonates.
This was my third time seeing the show, and it remains as fresh and exhilarating as ever. As a particular fan of Adam Garcia (who doesn’t love him in Cyote Ugly), his turn as Frank Farmer is a real treat — commanding, charismatic, and full of heart, with palpable chemistry opposite Sidonie Smith.
By the finale, the entire audience was on its feet, proving that The Bodyguard is not only a romantic thriller but also a joyous celebration of Whitney Houston’s music.
The Bodyguard continues at the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham until Saturday 27th September. Tickets are available here: ATG Tickets – The Bodyguard
